The Journey Pool (J-Pool)

Our Vision

To establish J-Pool as the preferred platform for community mobility, transforming everyday journeys into connected, accessible, and sustainable networks everywhere

Our Mission

To empower communities with technology that turns empty car seats into shared value. We connect Hosts looking to offset daily journey costs with Pals seeking comfortable, reliable, and cost-effective travel within trusted networks.

Our Story

J-Pool emerged from a distinct market gap: the widespread reliance on unstructured, ad-hoc networks for essential everyday travel. Across corporate workplaces, university campuses, and local groups, commuters frequently attempt to coordinate shared journeys through decentralised channels like messaging groups. While the desire to move together is clear, this informal approach often leads to operational friction, fragmented communication, safety ambiguities, and highly inefficient capacity utilisation.

We created J-Pool under Eykegai to transform this unstructured travel into an organised, technology-enabled experience. We recognised that tackling daily transport challenges is not about adding more vehicles to congested roads; it is about making far better use of the millions of empty seats already moving along them. Designed specifically for verified networks, our platform bridges the vital gap between safety, daily convenience, and long-term sustainability.

By replacing ad-hoc arrangements with a secure, closed-loop framework, J-Pool provides both organisations and individuals with complete visibility and peace of mind. Every route, timing, and connection is structured to fit naturally into existing daily routines, turning routine commutes into shared value for everyone involved.

  • Empowering Hosts: Vehicle owners offset daily fuel, parking, and running costs by sharing empty seats on routes they are already driving, retaining complete control over their schedules and routes.

  • Supporting Pals: Passengers enjoy affordable, comfortable, and dependable travel, eliminating the stress of long wait times, unpredictable public transit schedules, and expensive solo transport options.

  • Strengthening Organisations: Workplaces and campuses gain clear visibility into travel patterns, helping to ease parking pressure, lower commuter carbon footprints, and support corporate sustainability targets.

  • Connecting Communities: Neighbourhood networks, faith groups, and diaspora associations build stronger social bonds by enabling safe, verified, and cost-effective movement within trusted circles.

The Catalyst For Change

Despite the push for sustainable operations, the way we move remains highly fragmented. Across the country, everyday travel by members of verified communities is overwhelmingly dominated by private vehicles. This includes everything from a formal daily commute to the office, to teaming up with a colleague for a local grocery run, or simply catching a ride halfway along a trusted network member’s route into the city.

Yet, the vast majority of these cars are single-occupancy. While our roads are congested with drivers, the number of people actually sharing those journeys remains disproportionately low, leaving millions of empty seats on the road every single day.

This disparity represents a staggeringly missed opportunity. The capacity for shared movement already exists all around us, embedded in both our structured daily routines and our informal, everyday errands. J-Pool is engineered to bridge this gap, unlocking unused capacity and transforming it into secure, flexible, and efficient transit for trusted networks.

63% - Dominance of Private Cars

Private vehicles remain the primary mode of everyday travel. The physical road infrastructure already exists, presenting an immediate opportunity to optimise how we utilise vehicles on the road.

Over half of all daily trips are driven with only one person in the vehicle. This creates avoidable road congestion and leaves millions of empty seats on the road every single day.

More than half of all recorded journeys are under 5 kilometers. These short-distance trips are ideal for localis ed, community-based pooling and shared daily routines.

Formal work and study commutes make up over a fifth of all travel, representing a highly predictable, routine movement suited for structured carpooling.

One in ten journeys is driven by social, family, and community gatherings. This reflects established, high-trust travel patterns within neighborhoods, social clubs, and diaspora networks.

Only a small fraction of overall journeys are currently taken as a passenger, revealing a massive pool of unused transit capacity waiting to be safely unlocked.
