Welcome to J-Pool.
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using the J-Pool mobile app, website, community tools and related services. They are designed to protect users, communities and J-Pool while keeping shared journeys safe, trusted and properly coordinated.
By using J-Pool, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the Platform.
J-Pool helps people within trusted communities coordinate shared journeys.
We are a community mobility coordination platform — not a taxi company, private hire operator or transport provider.
Users must be at least 18 years old and may need to complete verification before joining or hosting Pools.
A person who creates a shared journey is called a Host.
A person who joins a shared journey is called a Pal.
A shared journey is called a Pool.
Hosts and Pals are responsible for their own conduct, safety and compliance with these Terms.
Payments, where available, must be made through approved J-Pool payment methods.
J-Pool may suspend accounts where there is fraud, unsafe behaviour, misuse or breach of these Terms.
Your use of J-Pool is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
This summary is provided to make the Terms easier to understand. The full Terms below remain the legally applicable version.
J-Pool is a community mobility coordination platform. We help people within trusted communities discover, organise and participate in shared journeys.
J-Pool provides technology that supports journey matching, community access, communication, permitted payments, safety tools, support and related coordination features.
J-Pool is not a taxi company, private hire operator, bus company, transport carrier or public transport provider. We do not directly provide transport services.
J-Pool is currently being introduced in selected supported communities, initially in the United Kingdom. Services in Nigeria or any other location will only apply where J-Pool confirms that the Platform is active in that location.

For clarity, the following words are used throughout these Terms:
“J-Pool”, “we”, “us” or “our” means the J-Pool platform and related services.
“Platform” means the J-Pool mobile application, website, dashboards, support tools, safety features, payment features and related services.
“Host” means a user who creates, offers or coordinates a Pool.
“Pal” means a user who joins, requests or books a seat in a Pool.
“Pool” means a shared journey created or coordinated through J-Pool.
“Community Partner” means an organisation, group, workplace, university, church, residential community, association or other community that works with J-Pool or supports access to the Platform.
“User” means anyone who accesses or uses the Platform, including Hosts, Pals and community users.
To use J-Pool, you must:
Be at least 18 years old;
Provide accurate and truthful information;
Be part of, invited by, or approved for a supported community where required;
Complete any verification checks requested by J-Pool or the relevant community;
Use the Platform only for lawful, safe and permitted purposes; and
Follow these Terms, applicable community rules and applicable laws.
J-Pool may refuse, suspend or restrict access if we cannot verify your identity, community access, eligibility or compliance with these Terms.
When creating or using an account, you agree to:
Provide accurate, current and complete information;
Keep your login details secure;
Not share your account with another person;
Update your details if they change;
Use your own real identity unless J-Pool has approved otherwise; and
Notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the activity happened because of our error or a security failure within our control.
J-Pool may suspend or close accounts that contain false, misleading, incomplete or unsafe information.
J-Pool is built for trusted communities such as workplaces, universities, residential communities, churches, associations, local groups and other organised communities.
Some features may require approval by a Community Partner, community admin or J-Pool support team. This may include checking your invitation code, location, membership, workplace, student status, residential connection, ID or other information needed to confirm access.
J-Pool may share limited account, Pool, safety or verification information with the relevant Community Partner where necessary to manage access, resolve issues, support safety, investigate misuse or operate the community programme.
Any information shared will be handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
The Platform may allow users to:
Create or join Pools;
Search for shared journeys within supported communities or locations;
Request or reserve seats;
Communicate through in-app chat;
Receive app, email, SMS or push notifications;
Make or receive permitted payments;
View Pool details, route information and estimated timing;
Use safety features such as trip tracking, reporting tools and SOS support;
Rate, review or provide feedback after a Pool; and
Contact J-Pool support.
Availability of Pools depends on location, community rules, Host availability, timing, route, verification status, safety checks and Platform functionality.
J-Pool does not guarantee that a Pool will always be available, that a Host or Pal will accept a request, or that a journey will happen exactly as planned.
A Host is a user who creates or offers a Pool.
As a Host, you agree that you will:
Only create Pools you genuinely intend to complete;
Provide accurate route, time, pickup, drop-off, seat and vehicle information;
Use a safe, roadworthy and legally permitted vehicle;
Hold a valid driving licence where you are driving;
Maintain any insurance, tax, MOT, roadworthiness or legal documents required in your location;
Drive safely and obey all road traffic laws;
Treat Pals respectfully and without discrimination;
Avoid unsafe, abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour;
Not carry more passengers than your vehicle is legally designed or insured to carry;
Not use J-Pool for street-hailing, taxi-style operations or unlawful private hire activity;
Not use J-Pool to make profit from carrying passengers unless J-Pool has expressly approved a lawful licensed arrangement; and
Cancel only where reasonably necessary, with as much notice as possible.
Hosts remain responsible for their own driving, vehicle, insurance, conduct, licences and compliance with local laws.
J-Pool may require Hosts to complete identity checks, vehicle checks, community checks, licence checks, insurance checks, ratings reviews or other safety and compliance steps.
Passing verification does not make the Host an employee, agent, contractor or representative of J-Pool.
A Pal is a user who requests, books or joins a Pool.
As a Pal, you agree that you will:
Provide accurate booking and pickup information;
Arrive at the agreed pickup point on time;
Treat the Host, other Pals, vehicles and community members respectfully;
Follow reasonable safety instructions;
Wear a seatbelt where required;
Pay any displayed contribution, fee or charge that applies;
Cancel only where reasonably necessary, with as much notice as possible;
Not damage, misuse or interfere with a Host’s vehicle;
Not behave in an abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe or inappropriate way; and
Not bring illegal, dangerous or prohibited items into a Pool.
J-Pool may restrict or suspend a Pal’s account for repeated no-shows, unsafe behaviour, non-payment, harassment, misuse or breach of these Terms.
J-Pool may support in-app payments, wallet payments, card payments, community-funded journeys, vouchers, credits, refunds or other payment methods depending on the community and location.
Any amount shown before confirmation may include one or more of the following:
A permitted journey cost contribution;
A J-Pool platform or administrative fee;
Community programme fees;
Payment processing fees;
Taxes, levies or charges where applicable; and
Any other clearly displayed charge.
For ordinary community car-sharing Pools, payments to Hosts should normally represent a contribution towards journey-related costs. They should not be used to create a profit-making taxi or private-hire service.
Hosts must not request, accept or demand off-platform payments unless J-Pool has expressly enabled that payment option.
Pals should not pay outside the Platform unless the app or J-Pool support clearly confirms that this is allowed for the specific Pool or community.
J-Pool may deduct a platform fee, service fee or administrative commission from completed Pools where this is displayed in the app, dashboard, pricing page or applicable community agreement.
J-Pool may correct pricing errors, reverse fraudulent transactions, withhold payments during investigations, or cancel payments linked to misuse, illegal activity, suspected fraud or breach of these Terms.
Cancellation and refund rules may vary depending on the community, location, payment method and Pool type.
In general:
A Pal may cancel before the Pool starts;
A Host may cancel where reasonably necessary, including for safety, vehicle, emergency, route, timing, no-show or technical reasons;
If a Host cancels a confirmed paid Pool, affected Pals may be eligible for a refund or credit;
If a Pal fails to attend after confirming a Pool, the Pal may not be eligible for a refund;
Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to account restrictions; and
J-Pool may review disputes and make reasonable decisions based on the available information.
Refunds, where approved, will usually be returned through the original payment method, wallet, credit balance or other method available through the Platform.
J-Pool is not responsible for bank delays, card provider delays, payment processor delays, mobile money delays or other delays outside our control.
J-Pool may provide safety tools such as:
Identity or community verification;
Trip information;
In-app chat;
Ratings and reviews;
Reporting tools;
Trip tracking;
Emergency contact features; and
SOS or emergency support buttons.
These features are designed to support safety, but they do not remove all risk. J-Pool cannot guarantee that every user, vehicle, route or Pool will be completely safe.
The SOS feature should only be used in genuine emergencies or serious safety situations. Depending on how the feature is configured, it may alert J-Pool support, emergency contacts, community admins or other safety contacts and may share location or Pool information.
The SOS feature is not a replacement for police, ambulance, fire service or other emergency services. In an immediate emergency, users should contact the relevant emergency service directly.
Users are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own safety, including checking the vehicle, confirming the Host or Pal identity, sharing trip details where appropriate, and leaving or refusing to join a Pool if they feel unsafe.
After a Pool, users may be able to rate, review or report each other.
You agree that ratings, reviews and reports must be truthful, fair and based on your genuine experience.
You must not submit false, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, threatening, misleading or malicious content.
J-Pool may review, remove, restrict or act on ratings, reviews or reports where we believe they breach these Terms or may create safety, legal or community risks.
Consistently poor ratings, repeated complaints, unresolved safety issues or serious reports may result in account restrictions, suspension or termination.
By using J-Pool, you agree that we may send you service-related communications.
These may include:
Account messages;
Booking updates;
Pool reminders;
Safety alerts;
Payment confirmations;
Support responses;
Verification updates;
Community notices;
Policy updates; and
Other important Platform messages.
Where enabled, we may send push notifications through the app. You can manage push notifications through your device settings or app settings.
Some essential service messages may still be sent by email, SMS, in-app message or other available contact method where needed to operate the Platform, maintain security, provide support or comply with legal obligations.
Marketing messages, where used, will be managed in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable consent rules.
You may submit, upload or send content through the Platform, including profile information, messages, reviews, ratings, reports, feedback, images, documents and support requests.
You agree that your content must not:
Be false, misleading or fraudulent;
Be abusive, threatening, hateful, discriminatory or harassing;
Contain illegal, harmful or unsafe material;
Infringe another person’s rights;
Contain spam, malware or malicious code;
Expose another person’s private information without permission; or
Damage J-Pool, another user, a community or a third party.
You remain responsible for the content you provide.
By submitting content, you allow J-Pool to use, store, display, process, review and share it as reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, provide support, investigate issues, improve services, enforce these Terms and comply with law.
You must not:
Use J-Pool for illegal, unsafe or fraudulent activity;
Use J-Pool as an unlicensed taxi, private-hire, courier or commercial transport service;
Accept street-hail passengers through J-Pool;
Create fake Pools, fake accounts or false bookings;
Provide false identity, vehicle, community or payment information;
Harass, threaten, abuse, discriminate against or harm another person;
Bypass, avoid or manipulate J-Pool fees, pricing, verification or payment systems;
Arrange off-platform payments where not allowed;
Use another person’s account without permission;
Scrape, copy, reverse engineer, attack, overload or disrupt the Platform;
Upload malware, spam or harmful code;
Transport illegal goods, weapons, controlled substances or dangerous materials;
Use J-Pool in a way that damages trust, safety, community rules or J-Pool’s reputation; or
Encourage another person to breach these Terms.
J-Pool may suspend, restrict, investigate or terminate accounts involved in prohibited conduct.
Some Pools operate within communities managed by Community Partners, such as employers, churches, universities, residential communities, associations or local groups.
Community Partners may have their own access rules, eligibility requirements, safety expectations, internal policies or participation rules.
Users must follow both these Terms and applicable community rules.
Where there is a conflict between community rules and these Terms, these Terms will apply to your relationship with J-Pool unless we confirm otherwise in writing.
Community Partners are not automatically responsible for the actions of Hosts, Pals or other users unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
J-Pool may rely on third-party services, including payment processors, map providers, identity verification providers, analytics providers, cloud hosting providers, messaging providers, app stores and support tools.
Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, policies or technical requirements.
J-Pool is not responsible for failures, delays, outages or errors caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control, but we will take reasonable steps to manage issues that affect the Platform.
J-Pool may update, improve, suspend, withdraw or change parts of the Platform from time to time.
This may be done for maintenance, security, legal, technical, community, business or operational reasons.
We aim to keep the Platform available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available in every location, device, network or community.
Some features may be released gradually, tested with selected users, or made available only in certain communities or locations.
The J-Pool name, brand, logo, design, software, website, app content, features, text, graphics, user interface, workflows, technology and related materials belong to J-Pool, Eykegai or our licensors.
You may use the Platform only for its intended purpose and in line with these Terms.
You must not copy, modify, reproduce, sell, rent, license, distribute, reverse engineer, scrape, extract, imitate or misuse any part of the Platform without our written permission.
Your use of J-Pool is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal information.
This may include information used for account creation, community verification, identity checks, payments, Pool coordination, safety features, support, analytics, fraud prevention, legal compliance and service improvement.
By using the Platform, you acknowledge that we will handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
J-Pool may suspend, restrict or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that:
You have breached these Terms;
You provided false, incomplete or misleading information;
You created a safety risk;
You misused the Platform;
You acted fraudulently or unlawfully;
You failed verification checks;
You repeatedly cancelled, failed to attend or disrupted Pools;
You failed to make required payments;
Your conduct harmed another user, community, J-Pool or a third party; or
We are required to do so by law, a payment provider, regulator, court order or safety concern.
We may also restrict certain features while we investigate a report or issue.
You may request account deletion through the app, support channel or any other method we make available.
Some information may be retained where required for legal, safety, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution or legitimate business purposes, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
J-Pool provides a technology platform for community journey coordination. We do not provide transport services directly.
Hosts are responsible for their own driving, vehicles, insurance, licences, roadworthiness, conduct and compliance with laws.
Pals are responsible for their own conduct, attendance, safety decisions and compliance with these Terms.
J-Pool does not guarantee:
That a Pool will be available;
That a Host or Pal will accept or complete a Pool;
That a Pool will start or arrive at a specific time;
That every user will behave appropriately;
That every issue can be prevented;
That every route, vehicle or journey will be risk-free; or
That the Platform will always be available without interruption.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow us to do so.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, J-Pool will not be responsible for losses caused by:
The actions or omissions of Hosts, Pals, Community Partners or other users;
Accidents, delays, route changes, traffic, weather, road conditions or external events;
Lost, stolen or damaged personal items;
Off-platform arrangements or payments;
False information provided by users;
A user’s breach of these Terms;
Third-party service failures outside our reasonable control; or
Events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
For business users, Hosts using J-Pool for approved commercial purposes, or Community Partners, J-Pool’s total liability will be limited to the amount paid to J-Pool for the relevant service in the 12 months before the claim, unless the law requires otherwise.
For consumers, your statutory rights are not affected.
You may be responsible for losses, claims, damages, costs or expenses suffered by J-Pool, another user, a Community Partner or a third party if they arise from your:
Breach of these Terms;
Misuse of the Platform;
Fraudulent, unsafe or illegal conduct;
False information;
Damage to property;
Harassment, abuse or discrimination;
Off-platform payment or booking arrangement; or
Violation of another person’s rights.
This does not apply to losses caused by J-Pool’s own breach, negligence or unlawful conduct.
J-Pool may update these Terms from time to time.
Where changes are important, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as through the app, website, email, in-app notice or other communication method.
The updated Terms will apply from the date stated in the new version.
If you continue to use the Platform after the updated Terms take effect, you will be treated as having accepted them.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Platform and may request account deletion.
For users accessing J-Pool in the United Kingdom, these Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
For users accessing J-Pool in Nigeria, once Nigerian services are formally activated, these Terms may be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or any separate local terms made available for that location.
Where possible, users should contact J-Pool support first so we can try to resolve any issue informally.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from using any rights or remedies available under applicable law.
